Health Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is all set to digitalize the hospitals system across the province including Medical Teaching Institutions (MTIs) to have proper record of patients and medicines. For the purpose IT department will also be set up in the health department for proper coordination and to implement decisions .
In this regard Minister Health Dr. Hisham Inamullah Khan chaired a meeting here at Health Secretariat Peshawar. The meeting was participated by advisor to health minister Dr. Jawad Wasif, health senior officials, medical director Hayatabad Medical Complex Dr. Shahzad Akbar and others. It was also decided to digitalize the diagnosis services in all hospitals besides having proper record of all patients and medicine's availability. A special card will be issued to the patients coming to the hospitals like HMC to keep their personal record and history of disease. The medicines availability in all MTIs, DHQs, THQs and basic health units will also be computerized, so as to know that which medicines are required to be purchased and make it ensured for the patients. This move will also help identify how many machines/equipments are functional or dysfunctional in a hospital, so as proper measures could be taken for early repair of nonfunctional machines. The minister health Dr. Hisham also instructed for computerizing the diagnosis services in the hospitals. For the purpose a full-fledged IT department was said to be established to have close liaison with all the hospital systems. During the meeting HMC director Dr. Shahzad Akbar informed the health minister that work on five storeys building of new casualty block is underway in the hospital. He told that a large number of patients are given OPD services on daily basis and apart from the province; they are also dealing the patients from the tribal districts and neighboring country Afghanistan.
Dr. Hisham directed the concern authorities to speed up developmental work in the hospital without compromising on patient’s healthcare. He assured for provision of funds and resources for early completion of new casualty block and new orthopedic and spine unit. The minister showed satisfaction over the performance of HMC and termed it a model for other health facilities of the province. He vowed that there will be no compromise on cleanliness condition and healthcare services of the patients coming to the public hospitals and administrations should ensure presence of all doctors and other health personnel. He said people gave them mandate for the purpose of bringing constructive changes and they would not be disappointed. Dr. Hisham said that on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan solid measures are being taken for strengthening health delivery system at the primary and periphery levels.
