Medical Teaching Institute- Hayatabad Medical Complex again takes the lead amongst MTIs of the province by offering Advance Fellowship Program in selected specialties. According to an official notification issued by Post Graduate Medical Institute Peshawar, HMC has been recognized as a training center for nine clinical specialties including Peadiatric orthopedic surgery, glaucoma, Peadiatric urology, burn, Peadiatric neurosurgery, head & neck surgery, rhinology, otology and sport medicine.
A comprehensive inspection of the facilities was carried out by a team of Khyber Medical University specialists and clinical specialists from different part of the country, where upon the availability of all the requirement in terms of human resource, medical equipment and infrastructure, due recognition granted to the hospital. Dean MTI-HMC/PGMI Dr. Zahid Aman said that “this is the moment of pride for the hospital and our teaching institute to introduce some unique themes in the field of medicine”, he added that every year two fellows in each specialty having FCPS or equivalent degree will be enrolled to serve at the hospital and upon the completion the degree will be awarded by the Khyber Medical University Peshawar.
According to the Medical Director MTI-HMC, Dr. Shahzad Akbar said that “HMC will continue to support development of new clinical specialties and provide opportunities for training desirable workforce up to international standards”.
Hospital Director, Dr. Shahzad Faisal said that this is the part of strategic plan in the coming year to develop tertiary care, he also praised the efforts of Board of Governors for approving due budget for the program.
