GYNAE AND OBSTETRICS "A": 

The department of Obstetrics and Gynae A ward comprises of the following faculty members.

Presently Gynae & Obs ward comprises of OPD, Labor Ward, Obs Ward, Gynae Ward. Separate Isolation Chamber for infectioness disease like hepatitis and HIV etc.The parent Obs/Gyn ward came into being in May, 1997 with Professor Shafiq Ahmed as head of the Department.

The OPD comprises of a daily general OPD, Antenatal OPD, a high risk clicnic, STI clinic, Colposcopy. Gynae OPD and consultant OPD are held twice a weak.

The STI clinic provides free rapid testing for HIV after clinical screening and counseling of patients. Gynae OPD also has a functioning family planning centre where free services are provided.

The Gynae OBS OT days are twice a week consist of 5 OT tables, out of these 3 were used for elective surgeries. One Laparoscopy OT shared by Gynae B. also on same OT days and one OT for emergency procedures.

The office area consist of professional offices, clerks office, tea room and a lecture room with the facilities of a desktop, laptop and multimedia along with teaching aids.

The main focus of the OBS/Gyn ward is the labor suit which is a 16 bed facility operating for 24hrs receiving and dealing with emergency round the clock. It is also equipped with facilities of ultrasound, CTG, OT along with expertise and senior input available round the clock.

The labor ward has two delivery tables, a neonatal resuscitator operating round the clock. A separate delivery room for patients with Hep B & C & HIV & their own separate neonatal resuscitator.
