FUTURE PLANS 

As this unit is very new, a lot more is needed to be done to improve services. There is a high scope for this Pediatrics subspecialty as this is rapidly developing field. The aim is to establish this as a center for Pediatric Cardiology training recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons.Pediatric Cardiology Unit started working in PGMI Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar in June 2006. This is the only unit in the province providing pediatric cardiology care.

PAEDS CARDIOLOGY : SERVICES

Outdoor services are provided at Hayatabad Medical Complex and Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar. Pediatric Cardiology unit consists of fourteen beds which include four beds for intensive care. Both indoor and outdoor patients are provided services of echocardiography (Tran thoracic and Tran esophageal) at HMC.

Cardiac Catheterization (diagnostic and interventional) is done at Lady Reading Hospital. Interventional Catheterization includes balloon valvuloplasties and device closure of PDA and ASD.

Postgraduate trainees in Cardiology and Pediatrics get a chance to learn diagnosis and management of cardiac diseases in the pediatrics age group during their rotation in this unit.
